Ranking of Women status in the Arab World: yet another lousy unreliable survey by a Western organization

I have told you before: you can pretty much dismiss and Western ranking of anything in the Middle East.  Their classification of Middle East countries according to whatever criteria reveal deep ignorance and political malfeasance.  This ranking by Reuters Foundation is only the most recent silly exercises.  Just think about it: according to this survey, all GCC countries (except Saudi Arabia) are superior to Lebanon, for example, on the status of women.  Shockingly, the status of Syria and Saudi Arabia on gender rights are made to be quite close.  And Saudi Arabia does better on women's rights than Iraq and Egypt.  But then again: you realize who the "experts" consulted for the survey when you read this: "Egyptian columnist Mona Eltahawy said".  When the ignorant leads the ignorant the results are quite laughable.
